History

One of the few Chilean Ship’s Agencies which not being a ship owner subsidiary, achieved a strong positioning in the market. Founded in 1953, its first office was located at San Antonio. Followed then by Carrizal Bajo, Arica, Talcahuano, Antofagasta, Iquique, Tocopilla, etc. The main office is located in Santiago.

Its main objective is the complete satisfaction of the several needs that the customers of the maritime-port-logistic area may have, on scenarios of short or long term.

As philosophy, Somarco keeps strongly in the market as an independent company not related with big shipping and port conglomerates, and so it is able to act freely searching for the alternatives which are more convenient to each customer’s needs. Its social responsibility politic includes the safety and the compliance with environmental measures.

Somarco enjoys of an outstanding participation on the administration and operation of maritime specialized terminals, as well as agents of all sort of vessels in the Chilean territory
